Recommendation of staying in the Santa Rosa dorm rooms.

As you know, I will be attending UC Santa Barbara next year. One of the requirements of the freshman is to live on campus. I have been researching the dorm rooms available for freshman and I have decided that either the Manzanita Village or Santa Rosa dorms will be the best fit for me. I have developed this report based on the following topics:
  • cost
  • amenities
  • conveniency

Recommendation

I recommend that I stay in the Santa Rosa dorm rooms. These dorms are right on campus with a short walk to most of the classrooms. They also have double occupancy rooms which is what I prefer. The rooms also have free wifi and many other amenities.

Discussion

Cost
Manzanita Village: The price for the year will be around $14,000. This includes 14 meals a week. This is a reasonable price because I will be receiving grant money that will cover most of the cost. And, this money does not need to be paid back.

Santa Rosa: The cost for the year is the same as the Manzanita Village dorms, which is around $14,000. This price also includes 14 meals per week. And, I will be getting the grant money to help with the cost.

Amenities
Manzanita Village: The Manzanita dorms have one dining commons area. It also has it’s own pool available for the students staying in the dorms. The rooms, however, are smaller and have bunk beds. But, there is free wifi and cable. Each floor has it’s own study area. But, there is only on laundrymat for all of the rooms.

Santa Rosa: The Santa Rosa dorms have access to 3 different dining commons, which is a bigger variety of food choices. The dorm rooms are slightly bigger than the Manzanita rooms and have free wifi and cable. Each floor has its own small laundry mat and study area. And, there is a barbeque area, beach volleyball court, and access to a pool shared by other dorms.

Conveniency
Manzanita Village: The dorms are located on Main Campus East which is slightly off campus. There is a lagoon separating the dorms from the classrooms and other dorms. It is an easy bike ride but kind of a far walk to get to the classrooms.

Santa Rosa: The Santa Rosa dorm rooms are located in Main Campus West. They are right on campus. It is a short walk to most of the classrooms and the beach. But, I will need a bike to get to some of the classrooms.

Conclusion

I feel as if the Santa Rosa dorms are the best choice for me. They are directly on campus allowing easy access to most of the classrooms. And, they have more amenities that I will enjoy which will help me adjust to living on campus. Some of those amenities are the beach volleyball court, barbeque area, free wifi, and access to a pool. I hope you agree with my recommendation!
